Prices and who goes free

The NEMO ticket shop lists one price for adults and children alike:

Ticket Price
Age 0–3 €0
Age 4–12, 13–17 and 18+ €21.50 each
Student or college card, European Youth Card €14
Museumkaart, I amsterdam City Card, Stadspas, ICOM €0
VriendenLoterij VIP-KAART €0, one ticket per card
Companion of a visitor with a disability €0, one per visitor

Because children pay the adult price, a family of two adults and two children aged 4 or over pays €86. Under-4s still need a €0 ticket, as do pass holders: the shop says every visitor with a pass or discount card needs a ticket, checked at the entrance.

When a Museumkaart or City Card pays off

The plan your visit page says NEMO sells both. A Museumkaart costs €75 for adults and €39 for those 18 and under, each including a €4.95 registration fee, and you can use the temporary card straight away. Visitors should know a temporary card is limited to five visits in 31 days; our Museumkaart guide explains the limit. Before buying one for a child, check your other museums: the Stedelijk and the Rijksmuseum already let under-19s in free.

NEMO also sells the I amsterdam City Card in its 24-hour (€67) and 48-hour (€94) versions only. Either way, card holders should book a free ticket with a start time in advance.

Time slots: book ahead or buy at the desk?

The NEMO FAQ says an online ticket guarantees entry on your chosen day, while the ticket desk sells only what is left for that day. Book online for weekends and school holidays.

The start time spreads visitors through the day. Arriving a little early or late is "not a problem", and there is no end time, so you can stay until 17:30. NEMO says it is usually quieter on weekdays from 14:00 and outside school holidays.

You can change an online ticket with the self-service tool, using the ticket number that usually starts with 77. Cancellations go through Ticket Support, and refunds are processed within 30 working days.

Opening days, especially Mondays

NEMO opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:30. Mondays are the trap: the museum opens on them only during school holidays, on public holidays and from April to September. For the rest of 2026, the plan your visit page lists Monday openings on 26 October, 2 November, 21 December and 28 December.

The pages read on 25 October 2026 did not list closures for 25 December, 31 December or 1 January. Check the ticket shop calendar for those dates before planning a holiday visit.

Getting there, lockers and access

NEMO is at Oosterdok 2, 1011 VX Amsterdam. It has no car park of its own; the FAQ points to the Oosterdok, Markenhoven, Q-Park Waterlooplein and Q-Park Amsterdam Centraal garages and warns that central parking can be expensive. The Scheepvaartmuseum points drivers to two of the same garages, Oosterdok and Markenhoven, which makes it a practical second museum for the same day.

Small lockers take a 50-cent coin or a NEMO coin. Suitcases cannot be stored, so drop luggage elsewhere first.
