Prices by time slot

The Oceanário's visit page prices each ticket by the slot in which you enter. Later slots are cheaper for every age group:

Entry slot Under 2 Ages 3–12 Ages 13–64 65+
10:00–11:30 Free €17.70 €29.90 €19.90
12:00–15:30 Free €16.60 €27.70 €18.80
16:00–18:30 Free €15.50 €25.50 €17.70

Online purchases get 10% off with the code ONLINE10, according to the same page. Payment is by credit card, MB WAY or PayPal. The page does not say how strictly slots are enforced, so arrive within the slot printed on your ticket.

What a family of four pays

For two adults and two children aged 5 and 9, the table gives:

  • 10:00–11:30 slot: €95.20.
  • 16:00–18:30 slot: €82.00, which is €13.20 less.

With the 10% online code, if it applies to your booking, those totals fall to about €85.68 and €73.80. No family ticket is listed on the visit page, so this per-person sum is the price.

FlexiTicket: when an open date is worth it

The FlexiTicket costs €41 per adult, has no fixed date or time, and is valid for one visit within seven days. That is €11.10 more than the dearest fixed-slot adult ticket. It only pays off if rain or a changing itinerary makes committing to a slot risky, for example on a short stay where the Oceanário is your bad-weather backup.

Discounts for visitors with disabilities

Visitors with a certified disability of 60% or more enter free, and one companion gets 60% off. This is granted only at the ticket office on the day, on presentation of Portugal's Multipurpose Disability Medical Certificate (Atestado Médico de Incapacidade Multiuso), so do not buy these tickets online. The page does not mention whether foreign disability documents are accepted; ask at the ticket office.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Opening hours and holidays

The Oceanário is open every day, 10:00 to 20:00, with last entry at 19:00. The home page and the visit page give these holiday hours:

  • 24 and 31 December: 10:00–19:00, last entry 18:00.
  • 25 December and 1 January: 11:00–20:00, last entry 19:00.

No closing days are listed, so the Oceanário is an option on Christmas Day; see our Lisbon Christmas and New Year guide for what else closes.

Getting to the Oceanário

The Oceanário is at Doca dos Olivais in Parque das Nações.

  • Metro: Oriente station on the Red Line. The Red Line also serves the airport; our airport guide explains that route.
  • Bus: lines 705, 708, 725, 728, 744, 750, 759, 782 and 794 serve the area.
  • Car: the page lists five car parks: Parque Oceanário (274 spaces), Parque da Doca (700), FIL (830), Torre Vasco da Gama (250) and Parque da Estação do Oriente (2,000). Only the first two have accessible routes to the entrance.

Metro fares and the navegante and zapping options are in our Lisbon transport card guide.

Rules inside

Food and drink cannot be brought into or consumed in the exhibitions; the on-site cafés and restaurant close earlier than the aquarium, the latest at 19:00. Flash photography, artificial lights and selfie sticks are not allowed, phones should be on silent, and balloons, scooters and bicycles stay outside. Exhibition texts and video subtitles are in Portuguese and English.
