Choose the bag drop around your next journey
Before check-in, a hotel bag drop makes sense if you will return there to sleep. After checkout, it works only if collecting the bag does not send you away from your airport or train. Ask your own property whether it accepts bags, what it charges, whether you receive a claim ticket and when collection ends; there is no London-wide hotel entitlement or price.

For an airport departure, settle the route with Heathrow to central London or the Gatwick, Stansted and Luton guide before paying for storage. Reverse the route that serves your accommodation; do not assume every London airport is reached through Paddington.
Victoria Coach Station: a worked cost comparison
TfL's facilities page places the luggage office opposite the ticket office and publishes these per-item rates, checked 31 October 2026:

These examples use TfL's 0–1, 1–3, 3–6 and 6–24 hour bands; the two-item column is our multiplication. They include storage only, with no transport, food or online booking extras. TfL lists an additional £6 per item for each subsequent 24-hour period. Check the final total if booking through the linked partner rather than paying at the office.
Collection is available 08:00–22:00 Friday to Wednesday, but only until 20:00 on Thursday. You need the original deposit receipt to collect your items. Security screening is compulsory, so allow time to hand over and retrieve the bags rather than arriving at closing time.
Victoria Coach Station is at 164 Buckingham Palace Road, about 300 metres from Victoria rail and Tube stations. With a rolling case, count that street section in both directions. A Victoria train ticket does not put you beside the coach-station storage counter.
King's Cross and Paddington staffed counters
Network Rail confirms Excess Baggage Company left-luggage services at King's Cross and Paddington. Its pages list 07:00–23:00 Monday to Friday, checked 31 October 2026, but do not give a complete weekend schedule in those listings. Confirm your date with the operator rather than extending weekday hours to every day.
The operator's site currently says online booking is temporarily unavailable and locations continue to accept walk-ins without advance booking, checked 31 October 2026. Contact the selected station about its hours and unusual items, then allow time for the counter queue. Ask the counter for the total for your bag and collection time, including whether an extra hour crosses a price band, before depositing it.
This suits a rail departure because you retrieve the bag where you already need to be. It is less attractive if your sightseeing ends elsewhere and the station becomes a separate return trip. For Eurostar, allow for collection before the arrival time in your St Pancras check-in plan.
Booking a shop or hotel through Stasher
Stasher's London page advertises prices from £1.49 per day; that is a starting price, not a quote for your bags. Its customer FAQ says prices depend on location and bag size, with storage available while the individual host is open. A “day” does not mean you can collect at any hour overnight.
- Search near the place where you will collect, with your actual date, bag count and drop-off/collection times.
- Check the address, opening window, item acceptance and final total before paying. For unusual equipment, get acceptance first.
- Keep the confirmation and photo ID ready for the host. Keep your passport, medication and departure documents with you.
- Leave enough time to collect before continuing to your terminal or station.
The FAQ offers cancellation before the drop-off window as either a 50% cash refund or a 100% future-booking coupon. It does not promise an ordinary full cash refund; after the window begins, exceptions require support review. If a flight delay changes your plan, keep the evidence and booking number and contact support promptly. If a host cannot accept your bag, resolve that booking with support before paying for a replacement; a refund outcome is not guaranteed here.
Size, weight and what gets turned away
A museum cloakroom can be useful during that museum visit, but it is not an all-evening storage reservation. If your bag does not fit or storage is full, switch to your hotel or a confirmed external location before joining the entry queue.
For a checkout morning, collect earlier if your next connection becomes tight. Losing an hour of sightseeing is easier to recover from than a suitcase behind a closed shop door.
