Admission prices
The zoo's admission and hours page sets these prices for individual visitors:
| Visitor | Price |
|---|---|
| Adult | ¥800 |
| Elementary and junior high school student, not from Osaka City | ¥200 |
| Elementary and junior high student living or at school in Osaka City | Free with original proof |
| Preschool child | Free |
| Osaka City resident aged 65+ | Free with original proof |
| Disability certificate holder, plus one companion | Free |
Visitors from abroad pay the adult and student prices above. The free categories for Osaka City residents need an original document such as a student ID or a My Number card; a passport does not show an Osaka address. A donation ticket option adds ¥200 (adult ¥1,000, student ¥400).
Discounts. Adults pay ¥720 instead of ¥800 by showing a Tsutenkaku receipt or Tsutenkaku online ticket (students ¥180), or one of several Japanese loyalty cards. Discounts cannot be combined. Groups of 30 or more also get reduced rates.
Buying ahead. The zoo sells web tickets through asoview, valid for one month after purchase and not cancellable. Its advance-ticket page calls them optional but useful on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, when crowds are expected. Paper tickets are sold at both gates on the day.
Opening hours and closed days
The zoo opens 9:30–17:00, with last entry at 16:00. The zoo notes that some animals cannot be seen after 15:00, so a 15:30 arrival buys little. Regular closures:
- Every Monday; when Monday is a public holiday, the zoo closes the next day instead.
- 29 December to 1 January.
The zoo publishes a calendar PDF for temporary openings. The Amazing Pass list adds that the zoo stays open until 18:00 (last entry 17:00) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays in May and September.

Which gate to use
The zoo has two gates, and the access section pairs each with different stations:
| Gate | Nearest stations | Walk |
|---|---|---|
| Tenshiba Gate | JR and Osaka Metro Tennoji; Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi | 5–10 min; 10–15 min by the elevator route |
| Shinsekai Gate | Osaka Metro Dobutsuen-mae and Ebisucho; JR and Nankai Shin-Imamiya | 5–10 min; 10–15 min by the elevator route |
Ebisucho Station has no elevator at its nearest exit, so with a stroller or wheelchair use Dobutsuen-mae or the Tennoji side. Pick the gate on the side of your next stop: Tenshiba for HARUKAS 300 above Osaka-Abenobashi, Shinsekai for Tsutenkaku.
Zoo plus Tsutenkaku or HARUKAS 300: which ticket plan
The zoo sits between two paid viewpoints, which makes the ticket choice a small calculation. For one adult (prices checked 3 November 2026):
| Plan | Cost |
|---|---|
| Zoo only | ¥800 |
| Tsutenkaku deck then zoo with the receipt discount | ¥1,500 + ¥720 = ¥2,220 |
| Zoo plus HARUKAS 300 same-day ticket | ¥800 + ¥2,200 = ¥3,000 |
| Osaka Amazing Pass 1-day | ¥3,500, covering the zoo, the Tsutenkaku deck and city transport |
Tsutenkaku's general deck costs ¥1,500 for adults (15+) and needs an entry-time reservation with every ticket. Both the zoo and the Tsutenkaku deck appear on the Amazing Pass free list; HARUKAS 300, at ¥2,200 for an adult on its ticket page, does not. The pass page prices the 1-day pass at ¥3,500 for adults and children alike.
Pass holders still need to book a Tsutenkaku entry slot at the facility on the day. For the tower's hours and slides, see the Tsutenkaku guide; for an evening view from Tennoji, the HARUKAS 300 guide.
